Pine Decking is widely used and continues to grow in popularity and demand, because it is very cost-effective and holds a charming appeal.  It has many different applications and can for example also be used for walkways, fencing, picnic benches and patio furniture.

It is CCA treated and you get it in either 22mm or 32mm thickness ribbed face or un-ribbed. They need to be treated with an exterior sealer and fixed properly into the substructure with 450mm spacings below.

While Pine is the budget-friendly “softwood” king, Saligna occupies the “local hardwood” niche. It is widely used because it offers the sophisticated appearance of expensive tropical hardwoods (like Mahogany) at a much more accessible price point.

Saligna has a straighter, tighter grain with significantly fewer knots than Pine. It is highly durable and versatile, widely used not only for decking but also for solid wood flooring, heavy-traffic walkways, pergolas, and structural laminated beams.

Balau Decking is widely considered the “Gold Standard” of hardwood decking in South Africa. It is known for its extreme density, longevity, and high oil content, which allows it to withstand harsh weather and pests without chemical preservation. It is the go-to choice for high-end pool decks, boardwalks, and verandas where durability and a premium finish are the main priorities.
